********************************************************* Yet again on a morning before light, We gathered to give the Oakland swells a fight. Along with our nervous butterflies, We treaded the long combers under the skies. Our legs cantered with the wind, And raged till the fears behind us went dim. Fire in our hearts, Paint on our lips and Spring in our feet, We smile as we joyously herald it's defeat. One stroke, One pedal, One split, We zipped through and packed up our kit. Parched throats taught us to hydrate, Jelly legs to replenish. Lost courses and flats made us review, We learnt and grew, Held, pushed and kicked a few. To what seemed like a distant dream, We now hold it close, raise our fists and scream. To all that was unknown, we cautiously checked, After crossing that line, we earned our own respect.
